Matt, as you will be aware I bought the rounded deck style Okwata plans from piper. Pleased to say the plans are a delight. I have a couple of questions. Is the height of the new Okwata the same as the older one? & What will the height be, bow, centre and stern if you still have this information available? I lowered my Laker to excellent effect (for me anyway) I reckon I could probably get away with a tad less freeboard say an inch mebbe and a half, than Mick has on his Okwata, being considerably lighter and shorter. Also to you knowledge were any of the older style Okwatas ever built? That the original one came in at 14 foot is perfect for my purposes also.
cheers John.

oops!
Heights:
B-13" [330]
M-10.5" at the lowest point of the cockpit, 9" hull side height. [266 & 228]
S-11" [279]
Only sold a couple sets of plans of the old version. Never got any pics back. You could have the one and only!

Would 10 - 12"and possibly even 14" behind the centre seam be about right for rear of backrest/seatback for this boat? Also, will be using 3mm ply, glass inside and out. Any advice on cloth weight? Would like to use 4oz but expecting you to say 6 would be more appropriate. If so I'll go the heavier one. Is there an equivalent difference, ie 50% in the strength ratio from 4-6oz glass?.
Cheers John.

sounds about right.
You could get away with 3mm and 4ounce if you're not hard on the boat. But you might have to double up on the very bottom of the hull.

Cool, thanks for that. Might yet end up using 6 though, as the more I think about it, the ply is mighty light compared to the Laker. I would like to try for under 40lb.
Cheers John.
