Does a table exist, or, can anyone help from experiance to estimate how much weight various cloth and epoxy coats will add to a square metre of ply. (Given we know how much the bare ply weighs)
What I am trying to get at: Assume I have made a light 12 foot canoe and I decide I am going to give it a hard time because of the nature of the creek banks it will be grounding on. The canoe weighs, say, 20Kgs. How much weight would a light layer of dynel add?

I don't think there is a definite answer for this as there are many variables but......
the theory say that if you do the wet out and fill coats properly the resin will be about equal to the weight of cloth. This means if you use 4oz cloth you will add a total of 8oz per sq yard.

My limited experience tells me it is easy to add too much resin and therefore too much weight. As someone said in a post somewhere many moons ago "you squeegee off more resin than you put on - at least that's how it seems".

I could tell you for fiberglass but I'm not the weight of dynel or how much resin it typically holds.
