Anyone install a transducer on a wood boat yet. I am thinking of putting one on my Freedom. Not sure how to install transducer so that it will shoot thru the fiberglass/wood.

Several of the guys have done it ........ Put ..... transducer... in the search block ( right below the JEM Watercraft Logo at the top) and 13 different posts will come up for you , all have the word ...transducer... Highlighted to see it. If you click on the article it is also highlighted in there.
Mick had a article about how he did his ( inside the boat with out a hole in the bottom) and for the life of me I can't locate it.
Myself , I have an old Hummingbird fish finder and it has a suction cup I attach on the side of the boat ( on the outside) just below the water line.
Chuck.

This build thread shows how I did it:

I'd been advised that the depth finders don't shoot well through wood. So I cut a hole in the hull matching the transducer before glassing the hull and filled with silica/epoxy mix. Make sure not to allow any air bibbles in the mix when you pour it (that kills the transducer pings). I used plastic packaging tape (non-sticky side in hole) on the outside of the hull to capture the mix until it hardened. Once cured, I removed the plastic tape and sanded it. It was glassed over when I glassed the hull. I cut an appropriate hole for the transducer in a square of foam. I then used a product called Goop to attach the foam block & transducer to the hull. When squeezing out the Goop, be sure to keep it down in what you've already squeezed to ensure no air bubbles get in it. The Goop cures hard enough to keep the transducer in place. Yet, the transducer can ping thru it.
Let me know if you have any questions.

I shoot mine thru the plywood without any probs.
I cut a piece of pool noodle to fit the transducer and glued that to the bottom of my pirogue with goop. I fill the transducer hole with water and insert it.
