What kind of paint should I use on the out side of canoe? Went to store today and couldn't decide was looking at a dutch boy semi gloss latex exterior porch paint wasn't sure if that would work or not.

porch paint will work nicely.

I use rustolem gives a hard finish and goes on smoother than house paint,after 2 years it is still doing well on the Freedom

I've had very good luck with the Rustoleum too - the alkyd enamel. Extremely durable, in fact, my Rustoleum has held up much better than the gel coat on my manufactured canoe. I keep meaning to take and post pics.

The best part of using Rustoleum is that you never have to worry about your boat rusting. Lordy I did not say that ... Did I ?

All joking aside I have paddled with Ron (tx river rat) and like he told you , his boat gets used and abused and comes out just fine , even with the dragging it up on the bank over the gravel , running those Texas Rivers an Rapids and rocks that grab a boat half way threw there.

I never flipped his boat over to see what condition the bottom was in , all I can tell you is he never bailed it out at anytime while paddling , it never sank or leaked a drop , just keep going like a Timex Watch does in the commercials. I have never used it on anything but metal so the two guys who told you about it would be the ones to ask if you are interested.

Bear looked at the bottom of my boat it was still in pretty good shape.

Do you use the rustoleum marine coatings or the rustoleum stops rust?
