Matt and fellows
This bein my first build and me just readin about the others on here and on SP forum. I just recieved the plans for my new P-Row TV
I goes into the local store to purchase plywood. They did't have a clue as to the marine ply Matt suggests for builds. So I thinks to myself? HUHMMM if the boats is normally made of 4mm and most say it works very well then I have 2 choices here. 3mm or 5.2mm. Now this beenin the case and knowin how ruff I am on my other boats I opted for the 5.2mm birch. 2 reasons. 1. it was a better lookin suface and with the aid of lookin at the pieces I found less voids not only on the egdes but through out.
Now the question: Is this going to be that much more diffecult to work with? I plan on epoxying inside and out just not so many coats inside. Thanks for any input you have.
P.S. On the other site most call me Lazyriverguy. Fer some reason Matts site don't like that name.

Hmm...not sure why that name wouldn't take.

The birch will be a little bit harder to work with. But it shouldn't be a show stopper. Plenty of tricks to help prevent splintering. Birch can be a little resin-thristy so make sure you do a surface sanding before any epoxy to flatten out any peaks.

Apply fiberglass at least to the seams and at least 3 coats of epoxy on bare wood.

On these plans have you extended the bottom points out farther than the originals you drew for James and I
I don't think you could twist the 5.2 mm in like we did the 1/8 inch.
Joe There is a thread on sparkys about building boats inside out, might be a good read, I also use boats in a rough inviroment and would strongly recomends fiberglas cloth inside and out. Inside for strength outside for ware.

Couple things were tweaked after those prototypes. Taking that twit/gap out was one of them. Thanks!

Yep I figured on puttin glass on both inside and out. I do have a tendency to be a little over board when usin boats. I figure if it I was to ask then I would get the straight skinny. Thanks again. Now if the weather would just git warm enough to work without gloves I would start cuttin. Thanx agin.

A little overboard , you put two tons in a one ton boat. And still have some room left over.

Chuck.

Build to spec first. Test paddle before any final varnish or paint coating.

Then decide how to beef it up .
