Painting Question

I have glassed the hull, outside only. I have taped the inside and underside of the deck. I want to paint the inside hull and underside of the deck. Do I need to prep the wood before I paint?

Also, I want to stain the deck and varnish. Is there anything else I need to do?

I have been told I need to do a "spit coat" ... what would this be and is it neccessary?

I'm not sure what spit coating is but it sounds gross! :P

Make sure all wood is sealed with a minimum of 3 coats of epoxy. Then follow your paint can directions.

On the staining, you'll only be able to stain any wood that hasn't been sealed by epoxy or fiberglass. I'm pretty sure stain won't do much to epoxy.
