South Wind blowing soon

Post by bronco302 »

as I get my camper done and out of my shop :roll:I'm in the short rows on it. . Ok I got my 15/30 South Wond Plans today(thank you Matt) and was reading through them. I plan to use a strongback on this one and was wondering if I have this right.
To set the frames I first set the bow and stern points from the QA2 drawing at 180 1/6". Then use the Frame Ref drawing to set each frame from the two end points. Then I would use the Waterline Drawing to set the elevation centerline string starting with frame #4 the highest, then set the rest lower by the difference in the waterline elevation given for each frame  Please :!: correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

Hey Ron
It's a teardrop style just more angular, here is some photos although not up to date. http://www.mikenchell.com/forums/album_ ... er_id=5911 I'm waiting for the paint to dry now, then get the doors on, lights wired and a queen size mattress inside. Been working on it for a year :?

First you'll need to join the shorter panel into longer ones. Use QA2 to aid in that process.

AFTER everthing is cured and butt-blocked/spliced, Then use the Frame Reference drawing to show where the frames will touch each panel.

For a simple strong back, affix some 1x2s, all the same length, to the frames and align with the Waterline Reference.

Let me know if any of that is not clear.
