polythene resin

Hi Iam planning on building a kayak using polyethene sheets 3/16/ Does any one know of ay type resin that i can use for glueimg the poly to the frame

This might give you some problems. Epoxy does not stick well to any sort of plastic.

Is there a website that has these sheets? I don't want to say for sure without seeing what you're trying to do, but it sounds like it will not work.

Hi Matt thx for reply / need a light kayak / bad back / drew up plans for a 8ft x 32in kayak / 1/4 plywood on bottom / sides 1/8 abs sheets material / flat bottom with added keel / what you think / thx

is abs lighter than plywood? I thought it was denser. In any case, it's still plastic and epoxy will not stick to it well.

An 8' x 32" boat (sound like what is know as a "punt") should be pretty light even if in all 1/4" plywood.

Why the desire to use ABS?

Hi matt / using abs so not have to fiberglss / the shape is like a sit on kayak/ just only 8ft long 18 in high / seat is 51 in from bow / seat is 33 in long / bow 18 in / stern 45in long / bottom is 18 wide/ ribs hang over sides by 6 in / tital30in wide/ flat bottom with a 3in wide x 3in high keel added / what you think

Are you milling this out of a large chunk of ABS?

If not, I still don't follow how you intend to attached the 1/4" plywood bottom to the sides.

hi i drew up ribs that look ike the ones in your sabalo kayak/ nail em to the bottom /then fiberglass/ then add sides

well that would work for wood or plastic I suppose. Any pictures of sketches you could share?
