So the Laker instructions state that you can use 4oz with 4mm Ply but you should also be an intermediate paddler (I am not).
What do you think about 4oz glass with 5.2mm? It seems to be about half way between the 4oz/4mm and the 6oz/4mm options. I want to keep the weight down but at the same time I don't want a wobbler.

When I mention intermediate paddling skills, that's so a novice doesn't slam into rocks and over oyster beds and expect the hull to be as tough as a heavier built boat.
Someone with paddling experience knows how to avoid those obstacles. Now that's not to say the hull will fail if you ride it hard with lighter materials. But it's something to keep in mind for safety. These hull will take some abuse. But a lighter hull won't be as tough as a heavier hull with thicker material.
The 4-ounce with 5.2mm (assuming the wood is decent and you assemble properly) should be ok. I'd personally put an extra 2" wide strip on the seams first the cover with cloth just to get the extra abrasion resistance.
