Will the Wadefish 2.0 be available soon? As I sand and varnish my Swampgirl I am thinking of what my next build will be. Was leaning to the Freedom but then realized I really need to be able to launch in surf.
Looks like I may soon be relocating from Austin, Texas to Long Beach, CA for work and will need something to punch through some waves.

Now I remember the road block on this one. The displacement.

While this hull design a very quick and nimble, it's a narrow hull and a SOT. Narrower + SOT = Small Displacement.

This will be a wet ride if you go above the recommended weight range... water will come up the scuppers. I tried raise the floor a little but that's going to impact stability.

I'll post up the plans but I'll be making it well know about the recommended weight ranges on board. It's 307 pounds gross. So take away hull weight and that's how much you can have on board.

Figure about 50-60 pounds from a skilled builder.

Made some good progress on it last night on the WF 2.1. Got some things resolved so it's toward the front of the list.

In the mean time, 2 new Freedoms are done except for updating the web pages which I hope to get to this weekend:

Matt..
The 15 is a good camping or touring kayak (it has been good to me ) and the 18 ( when it is ready ) would be great kayak for long distance trips.

The extra 3 feet does make a world of difference on tourning and being able to cut back on the resupplying stops. One way to look at it ... 3 more feet is an extra backpack for supplies when doing trips by water. :D

The 18 was a custom request from Lee. He wanted everything the same as the 15 he built except 3 feet longer to safely hold 500 lbs of gear. Those requests are pretty easy. I don't have to rewrite the assembly instructions.

Once on the water, she should move at a pretty good clip.

The additional 3 feet will make a big paddling difference. The 17 1/2 I have is way faster then the 15 Freedom but the 17 1/2 is a lot narrower then the Freedom and the 17 1/2 is from a different designer who shall remain nameless.
JEM Watercraft was not around back then.

The 18 with the same width as the 15 and the additional footage should be a shallow water boat (as far as Draft when loaded) and one easy paddling kayak when loaded. I know the 15 is and all I can think of is that the additional 3 feet will only improve it for tripping.

With Lee's boat building experience it will be a honey when he is done , to look at and to paddle.
( Lee , you can send me the money in small bills for saying that , no checks or money orders )
