Photo update:
Building the new foredeck.
Strips of oak hot glued to a plywood base and then epoxy filled joints. The epoxy has graphite included which makes it black
To get a slight convex bow I set the oak strips on a form
The surface epoxy has now been sanded off leaving a nice little black pinstripe between the planks. You can also see I used a white wood for the centre plank.
The sanded foredeck
The main foredeck completed. I now need to put a raised back onto this and finish shaping it to fit the hull.

Wow! That's very nice. Will be spectacular when you're finished.

Are they UK canals you're paddling on?
I've walked quite a few in the Marple area.

The foredeck is now finished and being glued into the boat overnight. I should be able to epoxy seal the deck over the weekend.
