OK got a little more done on the fiddly bits today.

fore hatch lid is glassed


Tankwell is made. Another coat of resin tomorrow and in she goes.


Rear deck is cut, fitted & glassed



Started cutting the rear hatch coaming lip corners.


Foredeck is cleaned up and the joining seam is taped.

Next to my bandsaw and power sanders, it is the most used tool in my shop now. it is certainly he most versatile.

Look closely at the coaming lip in the last pic. Now, imagine sanding that edge right against the deck with anything else. I just put a little bobbin head and drum on ran right round the whole coaming in about 7 minutes.

To get into the tight corners, change bits to a pointed grind stone, - another 5 minutes and all done - Best hundred bucks I ever spent.

Oh yeah, I allmost forgot, You can also get all manner of neat little cutting heads for some real flash wood carving and shaping Ideal for pairng away minute bits to make that perfect joint look special.

I have one that use to be my Dad's. It is in a nice metal box with all sorts of attachments. It is one of the handiest things for working around the house.

Never have used it on a boat but might give it a try or get one of the new ones with the adjustment for the Rpm's so it won't run wide open all the time. The flex cable would even be better. ( That brings back some nice memories )

More like when I was doing my dentistry thing in the service for Uncle Sam.

Now if I could get my hands on one of those old cable driven drills with the swing arm and foot control that I used in the military during that ( Non War in the 60's ) .... "O" Boy that would be nice. I could do some inlay work that would be out of this world. Plus the patient would not need any happy gas or an injection ( Pain Killer ) during the operation (drilling).

About the boats ... that is today and everyday that is to come to us down some river .... Lets enjoy that to the fullest in a boat we make and have pride in.

I just knew I forgot something.

good pickup mate.

I plan to istall some venturi style drains out the sides of the cockpit and tank well. I needed to get theem stuck in place so I can work out proper angles etc.That is my story and I'm sticking to it

I think big holes stuck in the bottom of a boat will only create unnecessary drag.
