There was no twist after finishing the fillets which was when I last checked. We also made sure we installed the gunwales at the same time ... two slots on starboard, two slots on port, two more on port and then two more on starboard ... in a zigzag pattern of sorts.

Last night we removed the clamps and I'm pretty sure there is still no permanent twist. I checked twist by leveling the horses and then leveling the canoe at its middle amidships, and finally checking the level at the bow and stern. I only use a spirit level so it is not exactly high resolution but the bubble position looked the same at all three positions to me. Did we do this right Matt? Are there other ways?

The hull can still be twisted by the method I mentioned in my previous post but this does seem less now.

Thanks Matt but I can't all the credit, as I said your plans and building instructions are second to none in my opinion. Just a small suggestion, if you don't mind, an exploded assembly drawing would be nice addition.

Used a router to round the gunwale's slots. Next time I'll round spacer peices before gluing them. Unfortunately there was an "opps" when the bearing of the bit we were using fell off ... rebuilding the edge with epoxy and sawdust

In the "for what it's worth" department, I goofed and didn't sand and smooth my spacers before gluing in too. I was in a sloppy hurry.

Man looking good. I am still chipping away at mine. Bought some wood today for the thwarts and seats and it looks like I am running a little low on hardener. I may have to place another order here soon.

Thanks guys for the comforting words as well as the compliments. Actually, I owe you all a lot more for providing the inspiration and encouragement particularly from the boats that you yourselves have built. Keep them coming, I'm far from done.
