Calling all foot rudder users HELP PLEASE.
My question is related to foot positioning for comfort and ease of use, when installing the rudder foot controls should the users heel rest on the hull of the kayak or be elevated so as not to touch the hull????
Any info would be appreciated

It was comfortable for me in some other yaks so my heels were on the floor and the pivot pin/screw was in the arch of my foot.

Your heels have to rest on the floor, or foot rests. Can you imagine paddling for hours, holding your legs up? If the pedals are too high, you can glue in some cosed cell foam and carve out a cup for your heels.

It could be a good abdominal workout.

Thanks all I have dropped the footrest considerably based on all your advise, I noticed how much easier it is to pivot the pedal once the fulcrum was located mid foot, once again thanks to all the replies its great to know that by asking the question it leaves nothing to chance.
Started painting out the forward and aft with two pack marine as suggested in the build, thinking this job should be done in a well ventilated area outside
Relaxation: 48hrs

Can anyone advise if expandable foam would be a suitable option for end pours both for floatation and as a cheaper lighter alternative to pouring in epoxy?

I wouldn't recommend it.
