You could mix a little white sand into the varnish or clear coat paint. I wouldn't put it in the epoxy. I know it will work for sure in clear coat LPU paint. Not sure about varnish.

neon 14.....I've been looking into the very same thing and found this product.

Note that the first one featured on the page is a transparent and non abrasive anti slip tape.
Might be worth considering.

We used pool salt when water sking racing, but with paint,, better than sand (paper).
Put paint on the deck, just used a sieve (when the wife is not looking, it get's a even finish) with the salt, and paint over, let dry and hose off, the salt will disipate and you will be left with rough paint, will not take skin off like sand does  (We did try sand, but only once)
You could try on waste timber

I finally ordered the rest of the epoxy and fiberglass to finish this project! It should be here by the end of the week. I am ready to knock this thing out and go fishing!

Started building a paddle for the board.

Cut some extra strips. Thinking of also making a shorter paddle for when I am sitting down on the crate or ice chest. Building them birds mouth style.

Got the bottom side of the deck glassed the other day. I wrapped the hull in plastic to keep epoxy off of it.

This morning I worked on the handle supports.

I probably went way overkill on this rear handle support. And after it was all in I realized it wasnt even in the center. Off by a half inch. Oh well.

The other day I siliconed this aluminium wire mesh stuff in place. This area of the hull will have one of those plastic access panels. If I would have thought about it I would have not cut out these supports. This way water can still pass threw. I hope water does not get inside the hull.

Went to Gibson's in Kerrville today and found these cool chrome handles and pad eyes. Gibson's has everything.
