Actually, Zeb, gritz make good material for patching roads. I have used them for patching boats too, but was later chased from that county.
Folks of honor, breeding, and savoir faire' do not eat gritz. Nor, do they let their friends eat gritz. Gritz are something just not spoken of in polite circles. sigh

Zeb I'm starting a series of "Builder experience" articles for the main page. OK if I use your pictures?
What made you want to build a boat in the first place?
What woodworker skills did you have prior to this?
What made you choose the pirogue?
Later on, I'd love to hear about what you thought of the instructions and process and of course how she handles in the water.

Hi Fellas,Got the rubrails on today,I dry fitted them first as mick suggested(thanks mate) before glueing them into place for real
Wish I made a better job of that filleting

Looks great so far.
Trust me once your boat is finished, nobody is going to notice anything about your fillets. It will be your secret (well yours and everybody's who visits this thread). You have yet to experience the
WOW factor that a finished home-made wooden boat will produce.
Looking at your last two pictures, got me wondering if there is such a thing as "spring clamp envy"?

the little oops's are obvious now. Get her out on the water with everyone asking you 100 questions about it, and those mistakes seem to fade away.
