Matt...
If I am out of line here feel free to dump this posting , it is my thoughts and no one else's.
I have said this before .... A boat with holes in it to let water out will let water in.
To me a simple solution to the problem ( If there is a problem ) is to simply increase the height of the seating area in the cockpit. Or paddle a boat without holes in it.
If that does not cure it , then be aware of the type of boat you are making , look around , check the different ones out and then decide on which you want to build.
My guess is the reason it is called a Wadefish is that it is a wet boat , you do get wet when wading and fishing. So the boat is living up to it's name while the Sabalo drains water but stays dry.
Definitely two different boats.
Wade fish... Bow -14 , Mid - 9.5 , Stern -10
Sabalo....... Bow -15 , Mid - 11 , Stern -12
A difference of 1 inch for the bow , 1 1/2 inches for mid ship and 2 inches for the stern , It is amassing what a few inches will do for either boat.
From the guys who I have seen paddling them do get wet feet when launching them and when taking them out of the water. Wade ( get wet feet ) to launch and to take out so what does a little water hurt when paddling the boat ,Your wet feet will drag in some water just getting in the boat ( Mine do ) , if anything it would help to cool you down in the heat of the day.
I have not built one so all I can tell you is that one with a solid floor does not have water coming into it unless you really goofed up when making it. On the other hand it sure does not let any water out if a wave comes over the deck and into the cockpit area with you. Or if several waves come over to greet you , right then a self bailing boat would be a blessing.
I am not sure about all of you but I paddle my boats in something called water and I expect to get wet , that is just part of being out there. If I wanted to stay dry , I would stay home.
It's amazing , we were submerged ( surrounded) in water for a full 9 months and after that when we are born we try our damest to stay dry ..... WHY.
In medicine, body water is all of the water content of the human body. A significant fraction of the human body is water. Lean muscle tissue contains about 75% water by weight. Blood contains 95% water, body fat contains 14% water and bone has 43% water. Skin also contains much water. The human body is about 60% water in adult males and 55% in adult females.
A little external water sure will not hurt you.
