G'day Chalk, any updated photo's for my perusal and keep my appetite wet?? I'm really bored mate I have been off work for the past 7 weeks with a broken wrist! Not a great deal of fishing has been done! probably lucky I did sell my boat, it would'nt be getting much use anyhow at the moment.
Thanks
Mick

Chalk that boat is looking awesome!! The centre bulkeads with the rodholders in them, you have some holes on either side of the centreline, under the sole, appear to be about 2" dia, are they for conduits for fuel and electrics?
What will the length of the front and rear platforms be and also the cockpit area?
As the boat sits now, is that the way Matt drew it up or have you changed a lot of the internals to suit yourself?
Hope you don't mind the questions just trying to put things into perspective size wise.
Have you built other boats or is this your first?
Thanks mate.
Mick.

Yes, the holes are for conduit to run fuel and electrical lines
Rear deck is roughly 40" x 40", middle area is roughly 6' x 4' and the front deck is roughly 3.5' x 6' (triangle).
Only thing I have done different is integrate the rod holders and open the front bulkhead up for more storage forward and access to the bow eye.
Only other speculated change is to make the decks out of composite foam...still kicking around that idea..trying to decide if the weight savings are worth the extra $150 for three foam panels...I will probably do it.
Thinking about hull color now..thinking of fighting lady yellow with a natural rub rail accented with a stainless rub rail

Those areas are fairly substantial for fishing platforms. sounds good for me this far.
Is fighting lady yellow a bright or muted yellow? Would be nice with an off white interior, nice touch the natural timber and stainless rub rail.
The boat is 'like' the Gheenoe boats, have you been in one of those, if so what is the stability of them like?
Are you going small console or tiller?
Thanks
Mick.

DittoI can't wait to see the finished product, hurry it up would ya.

We can learn a lot from you blokes re skinny water boats. That second one would make for a very good Barra Boat down here.
Regards,
Mick

I agree with Surfman and Hairymick, can't wait.
Mate I do like that yellow, very nice.
I have been lurking on that Gheenoe site and also the Microskiff for a while now (no posts) I found an email address for the moderator, Tom and shot him an email explaining that I was unable to register on either site. After fixing a few access problems I was able to register. Some very interesting characters and boats. Tom couldn't have been more helpful, seems like a nice bloke.
I have found a few videos of the boats running, but nothing with any body actually moving about on a stationary boat like in a fishing situation. Maybe if we are really lucky, nudge nudge
when your master piece is finished you might be able to oblige us from 'down under', some video footage if possible.
Well I'll stop rambling on now, so you can go out and get some more work done on that boat so we can enjoy the finished product.
Mick.

For the cost that Gheenoe is hard to beat. The Gladsman is a real fine well made craft that is more expensive but not outrageous. Those guys employ the latest construction techniques to build and incredible strong light high quality boat with lots of innovation in a custom to semi custom production boat. Both boats are great for one person to fish out of and 2 can also but it is a little crowded but certainly not uncomfortable. The Gheenoe is very stable and I think Caulk's boat will be too. My Stalker is plenty stable to stand and move around in but I am sure that the Buc-X will be rock solid.
