Mick,
Xducers will shoot through plywood. Attach it tightly to the hull w/ something like GE silicone silastic, and have the Xducer right tight against the wood.
I like to mount it up front so I know what is coming, rather than at the aft end to tell me what I've already passed over (Ooops!).
I should shoot straight down into the water, not off to the side at an angle of some sort.

You guys notice:
(1) how prominently the easy chair is displayed in Mick's photos. and
(2) that it changes position from time to time, indicating copious use?
Smart lad, eh what?
Mick, when I clamped the Xducer on the side of my canoe and fished with my wife, I wasn't watching for fish. I watched the picture of the bottom as it unfolded. NEAT! I've thought of pasting the thing into a boat just so I could spot things in the water. Also, getting a waterproof metal detector and play with it around docks and fishing grounds.
Hell, I might even find Jimmy Hoffa!

Heya Matt,
No slight was meant on your beautiful drawings mate. They are clear and concise and a pleasure to work from. (a rare thing these days)
I was referring to my , err, rather haphazard way of following your build instructions.

Matt, I'm seriously loving building this one. She is all I can think about at the moment.
Now that she is starting to take shape, I just can't wait to get her wet.
BTW I have started using a different brand of resin. Not sure what the brand is (I forget) but it is about 30% cheaper than the International HT9000 I was using. Is a 5 to 1 mix and is absolutely beautiful stuff to use. Wets out superbly, applies nice and thin and the woodflour smoothes out like glass
Regards,
Mick

Mick,
brilliant suggestion to get a dremel! I picked one up and it made the horrible task of cleaning up the hull interior prior to glassing much easier! What a nasty task. I'm glad to be past it.
You're making great progress! Being several steps behind you and seeing how you build your kayak is really helping me out! Go man go!
