Sorry Bemm

I started out on the Propel drive & whilst looking for more info on that I found a heap of stuff on electric motors.

I tossed that idea into the mix to get some feed back, but Im not looking serously at it.

There was a new electric motor that came out specifically made fr canoes and kayak. German origin I think. I'll have to look it up again.

G'day Matt, you're probably thinking of the Torqeedo motors, Google them there is a heap of info on them. If you checkout the link below, they have teamed up with Hobie!!!!!!

From the site I saw this on they are saying the evolve motor is going to be around $2800.

Wow! :shock: For $2800 it better allow someone to water ski behind it, fetch you a beer, and bring you breakfast in bed! It also should weigh, with battery, about 1/10th the weight of a minkota and 12 volt deep cell because it is about 10 times the price.

yea no kidding... you can get a trolling motor fr $200 or less and a decent battery for $150 or so. No way the rigging and electronics make up the difference.

This is what I found on the Torqeedo motor. Not quite ten times lighter, but still much lighter. From Cabela's website: "At a mere 26-1/2 lbs., this is the lightest and only foldable outboard motor line on the market. Built-in lithium-manganese battery with built-in battery charge indicator." 1 HP= $1699, 2HP = $1899 (US Dollars)
