I'd say something that dips under the bottom of the hull about 4-5" and is about 3-4 front to back should do the trick. If you're using plywood, some 4mm is all the thickness you need.

I plan on developing a rudder system once I get my SOT canoe completed. Nothing real complex.

Mate, i don't understand that. My wadefish tracked like it was on rails.

Did you have a milk crate in the back or something? Something to increase wind signature?

My son steadfastly refuses to give me back MY wadefish and I am sort of feeling the need to build another SOT. Just for the heck of it. Matt is working on a prototyle that would suit my needs or - I already have the plans for Sasquatch 14. Might have a play with that one - see what sort of brain fart I can come up with. :P A hybrid I think, a SIT/SOT :P :P :D

Yes i had a crate and it full Catfish Jugs and my fish net, plus my BIG BUTT :lol: :lol: :lol:
Plus besides the wind their was 1 ft. rollers in the water coming over the stern :roll: It was a wild night :lol: :lol: :lol:
