A little more site maintenance coming

Post by jem »

Looks like I'll be switching hosts in a few days. Found a host that specializes in small business sites and even has a couple active boat forums.

I'll save a tiny bit a year in costs but get way more stability and more marketing functions.

I'll give a heads-up when the kick over is coming. Likely to have a few hicups for a day or two. But long-term, this decision is long past due.

I'll keep everyone posted.

Check out my current hosts stats below. It's a snap shot of how many domain (websites) they have at various times. Not a good trend. They used to be really good.

This makes sense since I started having problems right around October.

November 3, 2008...293,081 domains...-1438 domains
October 27, 2008...294,519 domains...-1560 domains
October 20, 2008...296,079 domains...-2030 domains
October 13, 2008...298,109 domains...-2078 domains
October 6, 2008....300,187 domains...-106766 domains

Quick and brief overview of few months from previous years

December 31, 2007...406,953 domains...-2394 domains
December 24, 2007...409,347 domains...-96100 domains
December 4, 2006...505,447 domains...+340 domains
November 27, 2006...505,107 domains...+179235 domains
December 26, 2005...325,872 domains...+3405 domains
December 19, 2005...322,467 domains

We will be cutting over to a new host tomorrow evening. It will take a couple days for everything to propagate (for the internet to identify the new "location" of jemwatercraft.com).

So for the first couple days of next week, you might have troubles getting the main site and forum to come up. This will likely happen off and on. But after that, I'm confident we'll experience smoother sailing.

Thanks in advance for everyone's patience.

OK the switch is complete.

There might be some hicups the next couple days.

PLEASE REPORT ANY ISSUES YOU EXPERIENCE! It will help out tremendously.

Post in the forum or shoot me an email.

Thanks a bunch.
