Building my first boat and not sure what to do. I am using West System Epoxy and I have read that it does not offer much UV protection.Part of the boat is painted and part is natural. Do I use some sort of clear coat or urathane. If so please give me some idea what to do.
Thanks,
Darrell

Re: Information Please
The parts that are natural should be coated with about 3 coats of a good marine spar varnish. Captains or Flagship varnish from Pettit Paints are very good. Epiphanes also makes a good varnish. Someone will join in and tell you not to use Minwax varnish.

Re: Information Please
Any brand of epoxy needs to have some sort of coating to block UV rays from the sun. Coat with paint, varnish, clear coat LPU paint, etc.
Stay away from Minwax varnish. Doesn't behave nicely with epoxy.

Matt,
After everyone talking about Minwax I'm sure not going to use it. What is the problem with it (how does it misbehave)
