G'Day guys.
I have a simple question which I'm sure most of you can answer.
I'm building the Freedom 11 & I'm looking at the coaming.
I've read the plans twice & it appears that there is 1 layer of the narrower piece of coaming covered by the wider section of coaming to create a lip. Simple enough.
My concern is that most of the pictures on this forum appear to have coamings with more than 4mm clearance over the deck.
My question is, does the coaming consist of 2 layers of ply in total or is there another layer I'm missing?

I haven't seen the Freedom drawings.
Some of Matt's drawings have the coaming riser as a vertical strip with the coaming lip on top. This then look like a "U" lying on its side with your deck on the bottom
Others (and I prefer this method) is to laminate successive layers of ply on to the cockpit deck to build up the coamin to the desired height. I like to build my coamins up to about 20mm or a little more and then put the wider lip strip on top.
I am sure Matt will be along shortly to explain the particular process on Freedom 11.

I need to make it clearer in the plans.
There's should be at least 3 layers of the narrower coaming pieces. That will help keep water out and prevent your fingers from getting pinched.
I got to looking at the instructions and went a little crazy adding a bunch of updates to make things clearer. Emailed you a revised set.
