Nice Jimmy, looking real well. Ply looks to be thickish?
Wouldn't worry too much about closing the ends up, they're good for letting water out of the boat as well.

The plywood is only 4mm, it does look thicker in the photo.

My "Katie Bug" canoe is 13.5 X 30. With me (210) and Katie (50) and gear (80-100) in, it has about 8"-9" of freeboard. You're going to be able to take along that kitchen sink if you want to. (I have a buddy who loves to portage; I'll rent him out to you.)
