What does a quart of wood flour weigh?

Post by Teddy Madison »

So I am about to order all the goodies to get moving on the boat again. The Free Laker plans call for 1 quart of wood flour; All the sites I check are selling it by weight

So what is the general weight equivilent???

MAS Epoxy sells wood flour.
1 quart $8.99
1/2 gallon $13.99

The 1/2 gallon container is about 6.5" diameter x 5" tall.

Thanks for the info DM but my problem is that the plans call for a quart but the sites list it by weight. I have no idea how much 8oz (weight) is in relation to a quart (volume).

Compare what MAS is asking for a quart or 1/2 gallon to what your people are asking, that should get you close.
For example, if your people want $10 for a pound, then a pound is a little more than a quart, which MAS is asking $8.99.

1 pound should be plenty.

Stuff comes in handy around the house with leftover epoxy. Getting some extra wouldn't hurt.

Thanks guys,
I ended up grabbing an 8oz container of West filleting blend, I was at ACE getting chlorine and it was there... . I paid a few bucks more that what MAS has but when you add shipping VS tax it's only a couple bucks. Putting in the order for the rest if the glassing supplies with U.S. Epoxy today.

After a month pause were running again! :D
