Ok i have used but blocks on my splices. Can I put the fiberglass patch just on the opposite side of the panel and just leave the but block bare intill i glass the inside of canoe i am glassing inside and out or do i have to patch bothe sides? I was figuring that when i glass inside that would strenghten up the area.

If you did the wooden butt block properly, you don't need a fiberglass patch on the other side of the panel seam.
