Which Type of Fiberglass Cloth?

Post by Teddy Madison »

OK, I have wanted to build a boat for two years now and I am going for it soon! I'm starting with the free Laker 13.

This forum has really sparked my interest again, such helpful folks!

Now, woodworking is not an issue, glass however is a brand new concept for me. As I was pricing around I am seeing all kinds of weave types and have no idea which I should be using.

Help?

6-ounce, standard weave, e-glass.

That's the most common and easy to work with. Many use different kinds of weave, weight, etc. For a beginner, keep it simple.

G'day Teddy,

Welcome aboard mate! :D

Laker 13 is a great boat and I am certain you (and the kids/wife/friends) will love it too?

Ditto to everything Matt said about the fibreglass. Simple is good. 8)

Mick
